Pastor Jim Souza
May 2007 update:
"You may be wondering what Emeritus means. I did! It means: retired or honorably discharged from active professional duty, but retaining the title of one's office or position.
I served on Calvary Chapel Visalia's staff from 1987 until May of 2007 as Pastor Bob's assistant. My wife and I still are a part of Calvary Visalia and Pastor Bob still considers me one of the Pastor's, but the Lord has moved me into a different career where I can be a fisher of men in a whole different area. Although, I'm not retired, I am no longer an active staff member. I can still be reached though, at the above link."
Pastor Jim was born in Visalia in 1949, married Kerry in 1980. They have four children: Andy (born in 1973), Amy (born in 1982),
Joseph (born in 1984), and Rachel (born in 1986). They
also have three grandchildren- Alexandra Mayo, Emma Gracie
& Peyton James Souza.
Pastor Jim shares his testimony:" I was raised in the
Catholic Church, but never knew about a personal relationship
with Jesus. While in my high school years, I fell away from
any knowledge of God and became involved with drugs and alcohol.
In 1983, I came to the end of myself and realized that true
joy only comes through a personal relationship with Jesus
Christ. I made a commitment to follow Him and began reading
His Word. A few weeks later, I began listening to Pastor Bob
on the radio, and my family and I made our way to Calvary
Chapel Visalia. The Lord has blessed my family and me as we
continue to serve Him here at Calvary Chapel.”
Pastor Jim’s favorite books of the Bible are John and
1st John. His favorite passage is Philippians 4:6-8.
